Aqua Pura is a water filter designed for the asian market for use in semipublic buildings such as office buildings controlled only by an app.

The water dispenser is automatically adjusted in height by the use of a distance sensor. The collecting container is fixed by magnets and can be easily removed and emptied.

The Aqua Pura app is the complete control mechanism of the filter. Every employee has a license to register and his or her personal login. The employees can control the filter via the app and save individual options such as the amount, the carbonic acid level and the water temperature.

Easy to clean!

The biofilm on the microfilter must be removed regularly. The office staff can simply separate the microfilter from the system and put it in the dishwasher.

With the help of the Aqua Pura App, personalized

data can bestored and the daily required amount of

water can be calculated. There is also a donation

system where employees can join forces to donate water filters to villages with poor water quality.

Process
Research & Synthesis
The project focused on the development of a water filter for the East Asian market. In East Asia, the control of bottled water has repeatedly shown shortcomings. In addition, many cases of fraud are reported where bottled water did not meet quality standards.

Bromine suspected of being carcinogenic has been found in bottled water and the water dispensers in offices are also frequently contaminated with germs.

Another alarming fact, is that there are over 750 million people worldwide without access to clean water.

How might I develop an easy-to-clean and  secure water filter for the office, which encourages office workers to donate to rural areas with no clean water?
Prototyping
I divided the ideation process into two steps. On the one hand, solutions had to be found for how the internal system of the filter is constructed, and on the other hand, how the interaction with the water filter operates.

For this I sketched different concepts and modeled them in original size in order to adjust the proportions. I also created a prototype click dummy for the app and tested it with users.
Testing & Co-Creation
Together with users I developed possible interactions with the water filter.

In further steps I tested with users the individual interaction with the app.
